Welcome to the Redditch & Bromsgrove CAMRA Young members page! It’s here we show you that Real Ale is enjoyed by people from all sorts of backgrounds, not just by bearded folk in woolly jumpers! You don’t have to be a member to enjoy a good pint; all you need is a thirst for a good pub atmosphere. Young member events happen all over the country, and include regular meetings as well as working socials at beer festivals and pub crawls.
Every Sunday - Pub Game Social crawl starting at The Seven Stars from 8pm.
Join us for some traditional pub fun every Sunday from 8pm. Whether your're a diva on the dartboard or just a plonker on the pool table you will be most welcome. It's also a chance for young members to catch up and discuss future events over a couple of pints. There's even a pub quiz for those who want to rack their brains. Meet us at the Seven Stars in Birchfield Road, Redditch. We'll be on the pool table, ready and waiting!
Thursday 3rd June - A curry with the Royals!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A PROVISIONAL EVENT AS THE VENUE (the old Chicago Rock Cafe) HAS NOT YET OPENED! If the Royal Enfield is not open on this date or is not running the JDW Curry Club, the event will be held at the Rising Sun. The venue will be confirmed nearer the time...
So why not join us for a curry and a beer? For just £5.99 you can choose a curry with rice, naan bread, poppadum and a beer (guest ales negoitable). The full Wetherspoons menu is also available for those who aren't keen on curry.
From there we'll head onto other Redditch pubs such as The Queen's Head, Golden Cross, and the Woodland Cottage. Non-CAMRA members welcome.
Meet in the Royal Enfield (Lloyds/the old Chicago Rock) on Unicorn Hill, Redditch B97 4QR at 7:00pm, or join us later if you'd just like to come along on the pub crawl. Let me know if you need a lift. Cheers!
Saturday 5th June - Social Trip to Wolverhampton Beer Festival & Pub Crawl
Join Ali and the gang for a 'bosting good time at Wolverhampton Beer Festival! With over one hundred real ales on offer as well as a great selection of ciders and perries; as well as a foreign bottled beer bar, there's something for everyone. The festival is at Wulfrun Hall (Wolverhampton Civic Hall) and opens at noon. It's a ten minute walk from Wolverhampton Train Station.
There will also be a pub crawl of Wolverhampton's best pubs; this will be led by a local branch member and will leave the venue at approx 3pm. Feel free to join or head off at any time of the day. If you're a CAMRA member, don't forget to bring your membership card to get your discount.
Thursday 29th July - Young Member Curry Night
Join us as we welcome new members freshly recruited from Bromsgrove Beer Festival as they attend their first event! The aim of the night is to welcome new members with a meal and a quick chat of what CAMRA is about, before introducing them to some pubs on their doorstep that sell the good stuff...
So why not join us for a curry and a beer? For just £5.99 you can choose a curry with rice, naan bread, poppadum and a beer (guest ales negoitable). The full Wetherspoons menu is also available for those who aren't keen on curry.
From there we'll head onto other Bromsgrove pubs such as The Greyhound, Black Cross, Red Lion & The Slug & Lettuce (or is it the Hogshead now?!)
Meet in the Golden Cross Hotel (Wetherspoons) at Bromsgrove B61 8HH at 7:30pm, or join us later if you'd just like to come along on the pub crawl. Let me know if you need a lift. Cheers!
More events will be organised throughout the year. If you have any suggestions for a trip or would like to organise one then please do get in touch. To keep you up to date, we also have a Facebook group complete with a forum. You can find it by logging into Facebook and following this link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=58392375536&ref=ts
Previous Events
On the 8th May we had a fantastic day out on the buses visiting pubs around the Black Country. We drank some fantastic brews such as chocolate stouts and Black Country Specials (there was no way that we were going to stick to Mild when we saw these beers on at the bar!). We managed a fantastic eleven pubs which included The Windsor Castle in Lye; The Vine/Bull & Bladder in Brierley Hill; The Court House in Dudley; Ma Pardoe's in Netherton; The Bull and The Beacon Hotel (both in Sedgley), and even managed a swift in The Wellington in Birmingham before catching the train home. A big thanks to Steve Thompson of Dudley branch for organising the day.
Join Us!
If you do decide to join CAMRA, we offer a £14 membership for those under 26 who join by direct debit, that’s £6 off the current membership price! By joining you get free or reduced entry to beer festivals across the UK, a monthly subscription to What’s Brewing; CAMRA’s newspaper which gives details of events happening in your area and beer festivals across the country, and opportunities to volunteer at events like The Great British Beer Festival. You'll also receive £20 of Wetherspoon vouchers - not bad eh?
Cheers,
